Coming from Stafford means a bit of a drive, so it helps to know you can make a proper afternoon of it rather than just a quick round. Wide, level pathways run the full way round the course, buggies and wheelchairs included, and nobody needs to have held a putter before to keep up. Once you’ve finished, the bar and kitchen are open for food and a sit down before the journey back.

The course is built around waterfalls, crashed cars, tropical planting and our animatronic dinosaurs – including a 6ft T-rex who takes a keen interest in anyone carrying sweet treats. Each hole plays differently, so it stays interesting all the way round rather than tailing off after the first few.
Allow around 44 minutes. We’re at The Mount Golf Course on Wrottesley Park Road in Perton, just outside Wolverhampton, and parking on site is free. Most Stafford visitors make a half-day of it rather than dashing back.
Yes – the sports bar serves hot food from midday every day, and we’re fully licensed across the whole site, so you can have a drink while you play. There’s a full cocktails and drinks menu if you’re making an evening of it.
We do. The course is fully enclosed, and every dinosaur has an information plaque, so there’s a learning side to the visit as well. School trips run on weekdays with group rates available – worth booking early for end-of-term dates.
The course is floodlit and open until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes it a genuinely different date night – a round under the lights, then a cocktail at the bar afterwards.
